Pipestone (Catlinite) is a sacred red clay stone used by Native Americans to make pipes for prayers and ceremonies. It is found in only a few places around the world, with Minnesota being famous for its highest quality pipestone.
*Due to its very delicate nature, careful handling is required.

その繊細かつ滑らかなシェイプクォリティは毎年サンタフェで行われる全米最大のネイティブ・アメリカン ジュエリーのショーを始め様々なインディアンジュエリー関連のショーやコンテストでの多くの受賞歴が証明しています。

MINI SMILE
Made a small smile pendant top.
The front is available in two types of 10¢ silver and 1¢ copper coins.
The four silver coins that are in the photograph are American old 10¢ silver coins, the size of a 10¢ silver coin is a little smaller than a Japanese one yen coin (about 2mm). The smile portion is about 1.3 centimeters in size, and the reverse side has the center of the Morgan dollar overlaid on it, so it's small but thick.
It is recommended for all people because it is a size that can be worn casually.
I would like to tell you a little about the design of the coin I use.
The 10¢ silver coin has an olive, torch and oak motif, each of which is a symbol of peace, freedom and victory. The 1¢ copper coin is designed with a portrait of an American Indian wearing a feather crown called a warbonnet. There is also a custom that the first 1¢ coin you pick up out of the house in the morning is called the lucky penny, and is used as a good luck charm.
The background of each coin contains various stories of culture, folklore, and history, and if you look into it with interest, you will be able to find new insights.

It was made to be worn by many people, so even if you're a smiley face fan or a little reluctant to wear it, I hope you'll take a look at it.

小さなスマイルペンダントトップを作りました。
前面は10¢銀貨と1¢銅貨の二種類をご用意しました。
写真の中に四枚ある銀色の硬貨がアメリカの古い10¢銀貨です、10¢銀貨のサイズは日本の一円玉より少し(約２mm） 小さいくらい。
スマイルの部分は1.3センチぐらいの大きさで、裏面はモルガンダラーの中心部を張り合わせているので、小ぶりながらも厚みがあります。
さりげなく身に着ける事が出来る大きさなのでどんな方にもオススメです。
せっかくなので、使用しているコインのデザインについて少しだけお話したいと思います。
10¢銀貨にはオリーブ、トーチ、オークをモチーフにしたデザインが刻まれていて、それぞれ平和・自由・勝利の象徴とされています。
1¢銅貨にはウォーボンネットと呼ばれる羽冠をつけたインディアンの肖像が刻まれていてます。また、朝家を出て一番に拾った1¢硬貨はラッキーペニーと呼ばれ幸運のお守りとする風習もあります。
一枚のコインの背景には、文化や風俗、歴史など色々なストーリーが含まれていて、興味を持って調べてみると新たな知見と出会える事があります。

COPPER
We created a collection of silver accessories with an accent of copper. Not gold, not brass, but copper. Its rustic red pairs well with silver.
This common material is said to have the longest history of all the metals and has been used in your everyday tools for many years. From plumbing to wiring, kettles to mugs.
Copper might not be the first metal you think of when it comes to accessories. But there’s been a good number of copper accessories discovered dating further back than those with silver. They were also used along with brass by Indians in Navajo nation when the price of silver went up during the great depression in the 30s.
When exposed to air, copper will gradually tarnish to a dull, brownish color and corrode to form the carbonate verdigris. This often gives copper the word cheap and be seen as a disadvantage of using it in accessories, but we see it as a unique process of “aging” and that’s what makes copper special.
Turning negatives into positives, we hope to share the natural beauty of copper with our creations.
シルバーにカッパー（コッパー）のアクセントを入れたコレクションを作りました。
ゴールドでもブラスでもなくカッパー。
シルバー色に落ち着いた赤色が映えます。
銅は金属最古の歴史を持つと言われていてその扱いやすさから様々な生活用品に使われているとても身近な素材です。
柔らかく安価な素材で例えば水回りの配管や電気の配線、お湯を沸かすやかんや冷たいコーヒーを飲むカップなどにも使われていて古くから幅広く親しまれています。
あまりアクセサリーのイメージがないかもしれませんが実はシルバージュエリーよりも古い時代のものが多く世界各地から出土されていたり、1930年代のアメリカ大恐慌時代ではシルバーが高騰し手に入り難く、ナバホ族のリザベーションの中のインディアンの人々は銅や真鍮を利用してジュエリーを作っていたそうです。
銅は空気に触れ酸化すると光沢が落ちだんだんと黒ずみ、そのまま放置していると緑青と呼ばれる錆が生まれます。
この変化をマイナスに捉えれば銅はチープで劣った素材ですがその経年変化こそが銅が持つ最大の魅力とも言えます。
安いから、変色してしまうからといってマイナスな素材と捉えるのでなく、銅本来の素材としての味わいを少しでも伝えられたらと思います。
